Nairobi Nutritional, Obesity and Bariatric Clinic, based at Kenya Medical Association Centre (KMA- Upperhill) , offers comprehensive and customized treatment options for overweight and obesity. We are led by a team of nutritionists, bariatric (obesity) surgeons and physicians highly experienced in the treatment of patients with obesity.

Dr. Wilson Miriti Kiraitu

  • Dr. Kiraitu is highly trained in gastrointestinal and weight loss (Bariatric) Surgery. He attended Alliance High School and University of Nairobi School of Medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in general surgery from University of Nairobi. He was a World Health Organization (WHO) scholar and trained in surgical gastroenterology at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa and advanced therapeutic endoscopy at Gemeli University Hospital in Rome. He has undergone advanced training in weight loss surgeries in many European centres. His main interests are in endoscopic weight loss methods, mini gastric by-pass, sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric by-pass.

    He is the Head of Bariatric (obesity) surgery at the Karen Hospital. He is the Sub-Sahara Africa Endoscopy representative of World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) and World Endoscopy Organization (WEO). He is the secretary of Europe-Africa HepatoPancreatic-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA) Kenyan Chapter. He is a former head of Endoscopy Department at Kenyatta National Hospital. He is involved in training of Doctors and fellows at the Endoscopy Department (KNH) Dr. Kiraitu teaches under graduate and post graduate students at the University of Nairobi School of medicine.

  • Kepha Nyanumba is a Consultant Nutritionist and an author with 15 years experience. He is a member of Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute ( KNDI) and a beneficiary of a Post graduate program f rom Boston university school of Medicine ( USA). Kepha is f requently featured on national print and electronic media and is the nutrition expert in the “ Food for Thought Weekly Program” by The Health TV Channel. He contributes articles and expert opinion to a number of magazines and newspapers including: The Daily Nation and The Standard Newspaper. Kepha serves as a member of Kenya Bureau of Standards ( KEBS) Nutrition and Health Technical committee and is an author with Kenya Literature Bureau ( KLB). He offers expert services to Glaxo Smith Kline, Novartis Pharmaceuticals etc. He is a service provider for various insurance companies including CIC Insurance, UAP Insurance, Minet Insurance Brokers, Britam Insurance, AAR Insurance etc. He currently serves as a Consultant Nutritionist with Baobab Circle, a London based company that aims to empower people within East Africa with tools to fight chronic diseases.

  • Daniella Jhuthi is a nutritionist with a great passion for food as medicine. She is a member of Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI) as well as the Nutrition Dietetics Academy (NDA). She is a graduate from Atlantic International University (USA). 

    She is also a beneficiary of a Business Management Undergraduate program from Moi University and a Masters in Business Program from Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). She doubles up as a nutritionist and an administration professional with a strong exposure in medical and hospital settings, managing and coordinating medical programs. Her passion is to educate and create awareness on healthy living through a total lifestyle change.
